Improving Access to Service Dogs for People with Disabilities through Service Dog Training, Education, Outreach, and Advocacy
Events - Coming Soon
We hope to offer Handler-Trainer support groups in the Syracuse, NY area in the near future.
Seeking a Trained Service Dog?
Because the service dogs we train are carefully selected to match their abilities and personalities with the needs of the prospective handler, it takes 6 months to 2 years to provide a fully trained dog. We realize this is very frustrating and disappointing but cutting training short does no one any good. Alternatively, the ADA does allow you to train your own dog which considerably speeds up the process of meeting your needs as they can begin offering intermediary support while still in training and it is because of this that part of our mission is supporting Handler-Trainers through the process.
If you would like to reach out to us with questions about selecting a dog to train for service work, support or advice (available over Zoom at this time) for owner-trainers, or to inquire about our waitlist, please feel free to email us at info@accessk9s.org
